You know, I just adore Murwillumbah.

And its melting pot of artistic, slow living, independent thinking individuals.

It makes for the most curious of conversations.

Of late, I can't help but notice a recurring conversation about 'the rise of the feminine' ...

I'm not even sure I know what that means but whenever the topic is brought up it sure makes me ask  (a lot of) questions.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Today in the studio I met Bridgette.  She is an independent artist by way of the craft, film.

She looked just so fabulous swanning in to my shop.  She had these neat little beaded braids piled high on her head, complemented by a stunning coloured scarf.

She shared with me her passion to create films about the oppression of the feminine as well as its rise.

OOOOooooo.

What does this look like?  I ask.

She talked about the importance of sharing about the oppression of women through domestic violence ~ uncovering its history & how it has occurred ~ and connecting people, both men & women, back with the healing power of nature.

We talked about the degradation of our beautiful environment (Mother Earth to her) and the importance of exploring creatively what it means to be sustainable.

Bridgette has just moved up from Sydney.  I think she'll be right at home in the 2484.

I've always loved the feminine.

To me, the feminine is soft yet centred.  Kind yet purposeful.  Humble yet powerful.

The feminine is flowing, creative, abundant and attractive.

Attractive not in the visual sense (although it is that too) but in the sense of 'attraction' power.

When I feel truly in my feminine life is so much more beautiful.  And pleasant.

For the most part of my life, I've always felt very connected to my feminine nature (and power?) ...

It makes me curious to hear conversations about 'patriarchal' & 'matriarchal' systems.

What do each of these world views  mean?

Are we 'really' in a patriarchal system?  Has there ever 'really' been a dominant matriarchal world?

It makes me question and think … does it really need to be one or the other?

Weren't we created to coexist?

What would be the 'name' of that world?

Hmmmm.

What do you think?

INSPIRATION ; Proverbs 31

She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still night she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants.
She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.
She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.

Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Honor her for all that her hands have done and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
