There's nothing I like better that a lady that's up for playing 'dress ups' ...

Up for taking some time out to enjoy a personal style session.  To try things on.  To learn about fabrications and cuts.  To talk about the designers and how to incorporate garments into a wardrobe.

Today in the studio I met Helen.

She'd just spent the weekend with a friend out in Tyalgum …

Perhaps touring about in all the 2484 oxygen had given her a fresh burst of Mother Earthiness ...

Suddenly … she decided she would spontaneously stop in Murwillumbah ... on the hunt for creating her wardrobe into a more feminine entity.

Helen explained to me how her wardrobe was currently quite structured.

Her profession of psychology calls for a fairly 'professional' style and has lent itself to button ups, pants, etc.  Making her feel masculine.

She let me know that she was looking for 'long and flowing' ...

She was travelling to India soon & wanted to explore her feminine.

Serendipitously she was of course in the perfect place.

But that's not why I share this story.

What I really want to share is the transformation of Helen.

Removing her jeans and zip up jacket and donning a free flowing cotton piece … she turned in to a completely different person.

Truly!

Her face lightened.  She laughed.  She spoke differently.  She moved differently.

It was so beautiful to see.

Being a psychologist she was quick to comment on how our lives reflect how we feel about ourselves.

Including of course, how we present ourselves and our spaces.

If you know me, you'll know I truly believe in the transformative and expressive power of fashion.

Yes of course fashion is also functional but over and above I believe it is our opportunity to share with the world what we are feeling, thinking, looking for … in our lives.

My passion is to encourage women to explore the fullness of who they are.

What are your passions?

What are your beliefs?

What are your dreams?

What are your feelings?

….. What does this look like?  How can you reflect this to the world?

Sometimes all of who a woman is can be expressed in a great clean tee and a well fitting piece of denim.

But often … for TRUE expression to rise … it may take something a little more 'fabulous'.

A great pair of sunglasses.

A rocking piece of hand crafted jewellery.

A drool worthy bag.

Or like Helen … a couple of new pieces of flowing silk.

Wishing you a wardrobe that inspires.

All my love, Mary.
